In short
Clif Stoltze's studio has worked from Boston's Fort Point for more than 30 years, and its roots in print still show: offset, digital and letterpress production are all handled in-house, alongside Drupal and WordPress sites built with long-term developer partners. Identity, editorial and exhibition graphics for schools, museums and theatres are its core, and it sits at #6 on our Boston list.
The Zeiterion, a 1923 theatre in New Bedford, got a new Z monogram, a colour system drawn from stage lighting and borders borrowed from vintage playbills, carried into print and a new website. For the Wadsworth, the oldest continually operating public art museum in the US, Stoltze extended a new identity across banners, exhibition graphics, advertising and the quarterly calendar. Ginkgo Bioworks' Grow magazine was redesigned for print, desktop and mobile.
Colleges, boarding schools, museums and performing-arts venues in New England get the most from it, especially when an identity has to hold up on a viewbook, a gallery wall and a website at once. Deerfield, Groton and St. Paul's all appear in the work. Teams that need a SaaS product, an app interface or heavy UX research should brief a product studio; that is not what Stoltze sells.
