Elefint Designs

In short

Elefint is a women-owned brand and design studio in Oakland that splits its time between established nonprofits and early startups, with branding, websites, campaigns and motion under one small roof. Its side projects are part of the identity: Elefint Labs for writing and events on design and social good, and Desgnit, an annual event series that donates sprint time to selected nonprofits. It sits at #9 on our nonprofit ranking.

Meet Your DA, for the ACLU of Northern California, began as a three-day Desgnit sprint with 16 senior designers and strategists and became an 18-month voter-education campaign launched before the 2018 California primaries, with John Legend as spokesperson. For New Door Ventures the team volunteered as career coaches at the youth centre before redesigning the site. The SF LGBT Center got a slimmer, accessible site staff can edit themselves.

Bay Area nonprofits and social enterprises that want brand, site and campaign thinking from one close-knit team, and like a studio that shows up in person, will get the most from Elefint. Organisations planning a national or multi-country rollout across many teams and channels need a larger agency with the production capacity to match.
