Electric Eye was founded in Columbus, Ohio in 2016 by Chase Clymer and Shawn Khemsurov on a single rule: Shopify and nothing else, no Magento or WordPress side business. The agency says it has launched more than 100 stores since, and it sells design and builds, migrations, diagnostics and a monthly optimization retainer. Clymer also hosts the Honest Ecommerce podcast. It ranks #2 on our Shopify list.

The client mix is broad but consumer-facing: Giordano's, Rancho Gordo, Sunday Afternoons, Beartooth, Westside Barbell and Warroad. For The Black Keys it folded several band sites into one merch store and shipped it in under 60 days, ahead of holiday sales. For Barton Perreira it built the custom theme from another studio's design, and Pocket Hose got a full redesign after its in-house store stopped converting.

DTC brands that care how the store looks and want the same team to keep testing and fixing it after launch are a good match, from bands and food makers to outdoor gear. It is equally comfortable acting as the build partner for a design another studio has produced. Brands committed to Salesforce Commerce, BigCommerce or a headless custom stack should look elsewhere, because Shopify is the whole offer.
