Think Company was started in 2007 by two colleagues who were tired of designers arriving at the end of software projects, and it still works that way round: research and UX first, with its own engineers building what gets designed. It has offices in Center City and Conshohocken, and enterprise portals and internal tools for regulated industries are its strength. It ranks #5 on our Philadelphia list.

Merck has kept it on for nearly a decade, starting with Merck Connect for healthcare providers and growing into a shared design system and Merck Formulary Resources, a payor portal with single sign-on. For Nemours Children's Health it ran 32 interviews across four locations before designing an asthma telemedicine pilot that syncs with Epic and now covers heart conditions, diabetes and epilepsy. Penn Mutual's advisor portal lost its password gate and gained a pattern library.

Pharma, health systems, insurers and lenders with complicated internal tools or customer portals, and the compliance rules that come with them, get the most from Think; Johnson & Johnson, ADP, Best Egg and Cencora are also clients. Companies whose need is a brand identity or a quick marketing-site refresh would be paying for research and engineering depth they will not use.
