Metalab

In short

Metalab is a product studio first, working since 2006 from a home base in Victoria, Canada with a remote-first team. Its reputation rests on making complex software feel simple, and it ranks first on our product design and app design lists.

It designed Slack’s earliest interface, Coinbase’s first consumer app and Uber’s early rider experience, and Google, Apple and Disney are also on its client list. Engagements centre on the product itself, through research, interface and design systems, rather than on campaigns or marketing pages.

Software companies launching or redesigning the product their customers use every day get the most from it, from early-stage startups to very large companies. If the brief is mainly a brand identity, a campaign or a marketing site, a brand studio will be a better use of the money.
